Whiskey Poached Pear with Cheddar Biscuit

Break the fast, or the hangover with some pears soaked in booze and a side of flaky, buttery, & cheezy biscuits. MMM Breakfast, there is no better way to greet the day than with scrumptious food. Of Coarse there is the traditional eggs, sausage, and toast but breakfast can be so much more.

So here is more.

Serves 4
Poached Pears

1 liter Water
1 cup Sugar
5tbs Irish Whiskey
2 Cinnamon Sticks
4 Cardamom Seeds
4 Pears

Cheddar Biscuits

1 3/4 cups Ap Flour
1tbs Baking Powder
1/2tbs Sugar
1 cup Aged White Cheddar
1/3 cup Cold Butter
3/4 cup Whole Milk
2 tbs Grated Parm
1tsp Salt
1tbs Malt Vinegar

Start with the whiskey syrup for the poached pears. Place all of the ingredients in a sauce pot and bring to a simmer. Peel the pears and place them in the syrup, continue to simmer for one hour before removing the pot from the heat and placing a lid on it leave the pears in the syrup for another hour before serving.

Last but not least the biscuits pre heat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Mix together all of the dry ingredients including the cheddar and parm; cut the butter into the dry ingredients until you have pea sized granules. Add the buttermilk and mix until the buttermilk is incorporated, be careful to not over mix. Deposit the biscuits onto a baking sheet and top with grated cheddar, bake for 20 minutes or until they are evenly golden brown.
